Jerry Estes, the FS 10 designer, knows a lot about fishing and fishing boats, having been a hired guide a tackle shop owner before he started designing boats. So when he says there are three things that are important in a car top-able small fishing skiff you pay attention. The three most important criteria, according to Jerry are:

	Light Weight
	Light Weight
	And Light Weight

This is not to mention that the boat should be easy to build, inexpensive to build and keep, be stable for its size, easy to row and if you are so inclined, to sail when the fish aren’t biting.

The FS 1O SKIFF is all this and more. She is a great small tender, and a wonderfully useful small boat. The late, and lamented magazine, "Small Boat Journal’s" editorial policy was that boats are used and enjoyed in inverse proportion to their size. This small skiff is the embodiment of that philosophy. Being small and Light enough to be easily car topped or thrown into the bed of a standard sized pick up, you will be using this boat at a moments notice, or to follow any boating whim. Yet, with its load capacity of 3OO lbs., it will carry two adults and fishing gear with ease, or one adult and groceries for a week trip in its parent boat.

The FS 10 skiff is fun, easy and quick to build. Using simple stitch and glue conduction you don’t waste time and money building molds, jigs or strong backs. It will take about out 60 hours to build and whatever time to takes to gather materials, to build it from Common Sense Boats complete and detailed plans.
